MESSAGE FROM THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR (Excerpt from the Publication)
2020 provided both opportunities and challenges for Mahintana. Despite limited resources as an effect of the pandemic, the foundation leveraged its internal funds to generate external support, even increasing its reach and assistance.
The foundation redirected its efforts to assist provincial and municipal local government units in Sarangani and South Cotabato such as Polomolok through the COVID-19 Task Force Hinabang Relief Operation through resource mobilization, food support, support to frontline services, and transparency through civic tech tools.
With the expanding coverage of Nutripan and its involvement in the School-Based Feeding Program of the Department of Education, Mahintana established the Nutripan Commissary to improve and ensure the quality and nutritional value of Nutripan products and in preparation for reaching new areas and its expanding role in feeding programs of the government.
Other than the technical assistance to Dolefil, Mahintana commenced the ProPEACE (Promoting Peace Engagements and Community Empowerment) programme implementing in 8 municipalities of Sarangani and South Cotabato, as the foundation is a new grant recipient of the Global Community Engagement and Resilience Fund.
Towards the end of 2020 also marked the final year of the RESOURCEGov2 Project, we would like to congratulate and give thanks to the European Union, our partners at the Department of the Interior and Local Government and MINCODE. We hope to continue and nurture partnerships formed through RESOURCEGov2 in our advocacy to improve local governance and strengthening CSOs in nearby areas.
Mahintana will continue pursuing its programs and continue assisting and strengthening partners and stakeholders by expanding its operations through social enterprise to better serve our communities. These include the Nutripan Bakery and Commissary, HEALTH Plus and its warehouse for pharmaceutical supplies distribution to nearby provinces, demo farm, environmental program and renewable energy solutions (SOLARES), and in support to the continuing partnership with local governments through the institution-building and governance program.
We are humbled and grateful for the support of our stakeholders. No amount of effort done alone could have enough of an impact during this trying time. The support of our Board has been essential and instrumental for achieving our goals. The foundation is grateful and appreciative of its professional staff and operations despite the challenges and risks of the past year. Passion, perseverance, and partners. Serving communities is a conscious and collaborative effort.
Mahintana is most grateful and together with its stakeholders, celebrate the partnerships and opportunities Mahintana is experiencing.
