MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT & CEO (Excerpt from the Publication)
Staying true to its mission and vision in working towards sustainable and resilient communities, Mahintana continues to serve with leadership, excellence, integrity, and commitment. The foundation is giving strong emphasis on being receptive and adaptive to the fast-changing world particularly on the technologies, initiatives and innovations in environment, governance, renewable energy, and livelihood opportunities. We feel we have to be attuned with the changes and consider these as opportunities, while taking all the development challenges in consideration such as the rise of corona virus, natural calamities, etc. Also, it hopes to upscale its reach and influence through active partnership with government agencies, LGUs, CSOs and other development partners.
As for renewable energy intervention, Mahintana ventures into solar home systems and other productive uses of renewable energy (PURE). In partnership with the EU, DOE, NEA, PEF, World Bank, and local electric cooperatives, the SOLARES Project identified MFIs and cooperatives for its livelihood component, profiled at least 6,500 off-grid homes, and is currently negotiating with the SHS supplier.
At the moment, we are actively promoting ODK, Qlik and the like systems for monitoring, mapping, etc. Mahintana, through the RESOURCEGov 2 Project, presented these civic tech tools and the project accomplishments to an international audience during the OGP Global Summit in Ottawa, Canada.
We are aligning ourselves to the current thrust of the government especially in the implementation of the Universal Health Care Law. The HEALTH Plus Project provides technical assistance and sits as a member of the UHC TWG in South Cotabato.
Moreover, we will continue to assist Dolefil in the enhancement of its contract growing and other endeavors that will strengthen communities.
To address all these concerns, Mahintana reviewed and renewed its 5-year strategic plan to ensure its appropriateness, adaptability and sustainability of the gains achieved so far. In the future, we dream to showcase and share the organization's experiences to our international partners.
As I end my watch, I would like to express my profound gratitude to the board of trustees, donors, partners and the staff for all the support given me in my 27 years of service to Mahintana. For 2020, the organization will be under a new leadership. Yet, rest assured it will continue to dream and work to reach its goals.
